Deep

So let me get this out of the way first, you're making music for the new Batman movie right? If not, they should fire that guy and hire you.

This is some seriously great work. The instruments sound amazing, the progression of the piece is brilliant, and the balance is superb. The only complain I have is that the whole piece is a bit quite, even when it gets loud, I had to up my volume quite a bit to get it where I wanted it. That said, it took two seconds to up my volume, and it sounds amazing now. Great work on this, it's clear you put a lot of work into it.

Skills

I've just discovered you, and am pleased with 3/3 songs I've listened to, especially this one. You have a very intricate and unique feel to your music, and it's definitely working for you. I've downloaded a few tracks and will definitely keep an eye on you, song/artist added to favorites, keep it up.

Cheers man =) That´s deeply appreciated.

Thank you for your review!

Credits for sure

I feel like this belongs in the credits to a game or movie that ends right after an "Oh shit!" moment. Get punched in the face with what really happened, then hear this as the screen fades to black and the credits roll. Music sounds good, very clear, very simple, yet addictive.

MikeTaylor responds:

I can see credits. It also kind of reminds me of the song that plays in the demon doors in Fable. Or just any sad moment for any reason. It's also a great song to slit your wrist to. If you play it in a car while driving, you tend to want to see if the guard rail can take the impact of your vehicle doing 80. So I've heard.

Excellent Stuff

I definitely dig the piano in this. The quirky pattern you have going makes my mind tingle, in good ways. The sound is excellent too, you need to talk to me about what sounds you have, and where one can acquire them. I don't have a single good piano sound aside from that of my synth, and I currently can't record that sound while playing, so nothing I play on piano sounds good when I convert it from MIDI. Anywho, excellent piece, I know you could pick this up again by ear, I think you should do so.

MikeTaylor responds:

I think this one was just fruity keys, with a bunch of reverb. Also if you're using fl studio, and not actually playing the piano in the music, it's important to change the volume of some of the keys that need emphasis or not, so it sounds more human. Although, when you do quick arpeggios like in this song, it's difficult to sound human since the timing is so perfect. Try a program called Reason for MIDI instruments. I'll probably re-do this song eventually. Thanks for the review babe-tron. <3

Awesome Samples

I'm rather talented musically, but haven't actually gotten anything on the net yet, I mostly play my Korg X-50 and never record anything. Anyway, your stuff always encourages me to mess around with FL studio more and really get going on creating something to put up. As soon as I'm financially set after selling my next game, I'm dedicating some time to your tutorials and getting more in touch with my music side.

As for the song, very powerful, very upbeat, overall just great stuff. I love the guitar samples, if I get serious with making music at any point, I'll definitely be looking up what you have for sale, because these sound great. Anyway, keep up the great music, I've been a fan for a year or so now, you never disappoint.

Good stuff

I really like the progression you have going here, it's a nice build up. The use of sounds is really nice to, very electronic/ambient at the same time, without going overboard on either genre. The high pitched chime like sound really reminds me of the snow area from Metroid Prime, very arctic feeling in my mind. Overall, the entire piece screams determination and moving forward to me, which is exactly what I was looking for. This will definitely work great for our upcoming puzzle game, thanks for making a great piece of music.

I'll take a Coke and Rum

Very smooth sounding. I'm not a jazz buff, but I definitely appreciate the music, and smooth is how I'd best describe this. I love the clarity of the audio, the use of instruments, the quiet bass, it's all excellent. I think I even hear a pan flute in there, or something of the sort, possibly a regular flute, can't tell. Anyway, awesome piece, nice progression, good stuff.

Best Megaman Remix I've heard

Just a few weeks ago I was searching Newgrounds for the main theme of MMBN, couldn't find a really good version. There was an okay one, but nothing that really stood out. As soon I heard the intro to this, I knew I had found that version. To my surprise, I saw the song was six minutes long,a nd I had even more great music on the way. This definitely made me want to pick up my DS and play some MMBN, such awesome games.

As for the music, very upbeat, very organized, I love it. The synth used is excellent sounding. The song as a whole feels very powerful, it doesn't stagger at all, it just keeps pumping. You also have a lot of background stuff going on, I can hear it a bit with speakers, I'm sure it's more apparent with headphones, either way, it adds.

Overall, excellent piece of music. I really love how nostalgic this piece is, those games relaly did have great music. You've definitely done the MMBN series justice, by far the best remix on Newgrounds, and the net from what I've found.

EliteFerrex responds:

Wow, thanks a bunch! I'm really glad to know how much you like it; it definitely makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. ^^

It's people like you that I make my music for, as well as myself. My target audience has always been people who are the hardcore VG music fans of the net, and I'm jazzed to know I gave you something you really enjoy. Thanks again for your support, and hopefully I'll see you around in the future!

Better not be

You have a bigger fan base on your ambient tracks than you know. I'm the author of Dominus Void (look it up on this site) and I love your music. I plan on using Sweet Ride int he sequel to the game I'm working on, I love that song. All of your music stands out to me because it has so much depth. You don't just have a melody and some percussion going with it, you have tons of layers and so much background going on that it really builds character to your music. You've definitely got skill with ambient, don't give up on it. I also love the sounds you use, they're an excellent choice together.

Glad to see somethign new,

I started following you awhile back, haven't checked your site in some time. I was just having a debate in a chat room about how many musicians make music for fun at first, then make cash, and used you as an example. I went to your page to link them to your music and saw you had some new stuff, awesome.

I love how upbeat this song is. You managed to use distortion and keep a very clear track, people could learn from that. The main theme is a great mix of relaxation and rock, the synth sounds in there are awesome, especially what sounds like a warped out square synth during the main theme/solo portion. The guitar parts are fantastic as well.

This is definitely getting downloaded and tossed into my music. There is very little music that comes out these days that I like, I primarily listen to 70's-90's music and your stuff is the rare exception in which I find modern music I love. I'll be sure to check out your website again, I see you gave it a facelift so perhaps more new music comes with that. Keep it up, you rock.

I'm a flash game developer and programmer. My inspiration for game design generally comes from the NES/SNES days, but I've touched basically all there is and enjoy anything that's fun. I'm also the owner of Gemfruit Studios.
